Victor Christou

Bailey Fisher is pleased to have worked with Cambridge Innovation Capital, a new £50m investment fund, to appoint Victor Christou as Senior Investment Director.

Set up in 2013 to invest in high-growth technology companies, Cambridge Innovation Capital combines a strong relationship with the University of Cambridge with deep financial and industry links, and aims to invest its initial capital of £50 million in Cambridge companies throughout a three year period. The company strives to build leading businesses using a long term return strategy – removing the pressure to deliver the early exits associated with the traditional venture capital model.

Positioned within the dynamic Cambridge Cluster, CIC has a unique appreciation for world-leading scientific development. The company is committed to ensuring that their investment partners can build leading businesses from brilliant technologies – with the support of some of the most influential figures in the sector.

The successful candidate, Victor Christou has considerable experience on both sides of the investment table. In recent years he has focused his attention on technology investing. Immediately prior to CIC, Victor was at pan-European venture capital investors Wellington Partners, where he was a Venture Partner in the Tech Team. Before that Victor founded Opsys, an organic electronics business focusing on OLEDs and was a member of the team that sold Opsys to Cambridge Display Technology (now owned by Sumitomo Chemicals). Victor has a BSc and PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College, London and was a Sloan Fellow in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University. In the early stages of his career, Victor was an academic at the University of California at Berkeley and then at the University of Oxford, where he was a Royal Society University Research Fellow and Junior Research Fellow at Balliol College. Victor was the Royal Society of Chemistry Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002.
